We continue in our series introducing you to the Committee who will be taking active Offices in the Lodge, giving you a chance to learn a bit about them as a person and as Freemason, and we come to the soon to be Senior Warden – Bro Adam Mills
Name: | Adam Mills |
Time in Freemasonry: | 4 years |
Mother Lodge: | Ostrea Lodge 8209 (Essex) |
Rank(s): | Master Mason |
Some of you will know Adam as a founding member of the Masonic Craft Beer Society, and regular on the Friday Happy Hour Zoom sessions.
Adam is the youngest committee member, being only 24 years old. Residing in Colchester, he is still very proud of his Kent origins. He joined Freemasonry during his degree studies, coming to us via the Universities Scheme – which allowed him to be Initiated before his 21st birthday into Ostrea 8209, where he has been a regular member ever since, and a member of the Holy Royal Arch since 2018.
He has recently been offered his first position on the floor of his Mother Lodge, stepping off onto the ladder with his left foot as Inner Guard. He is also a member of the Mark.
When he is not doing something in Freemasonry he dedicates a lot of time to studying history, including being a living historian for the last decade. (With a particular focus on 20th-century conflicts, and pining for Dame Vera Lynn). He is also an avid collector with various curiosities from the last century and beyond. For these reasons, he will be taking on the role of Lodge Historian – his first task being to transcribe the published Centennial history book into digital form, and bring it up to date
An avid homebrewer, Adam has an interest in both the technical side of beer and the social side of it. He has brewed some great beverages over the years; but his taste in Greggs bakes, however, is questionable.
